Senate Interim Committee on Student Health and Safety
On Sept. 18, 2024, Nancy testified before the Committee to explain how HB 3 School Safety Bill from 88th legislative session is impacting the district with an $8 million funding gap. The most important thing the legislature can do to ensure students and staff remain safe at schools is to provide the funding necessary to cover the costs of the new mandates without compromising school districts’ ability to provide the programs and educational opportunities our families want and deserve.

On Feb. 7, 2023, Nancy testified before the Committee to appeal for an increase in per-student funding, to address Plano ISD's most pressing need to help manage the substantial inflationary cost pressures that have mounted since the last increase to public education funding when House Bill 3 passed in 2019. Inflation has put pressure on every aspect of Plano ISD’s budget, as the price of purchases such as insurance, fuel, utilities, and salaries/benefits have gone up.
